A video recording of this event will be available here shortly\, along with other resources from the presentation. \nOn Wednesday\, September 6 at 10:00 am ET on Zoom\, we welcomed two Guest Speakers from Re.Climate\, Canada’s first Climate Communication and Engagement Centre\, that aims to generate a social mandate for strong climate leaders and bold policies\, and spark action to cut climate pollution and prepare for climate impacts in our communities and lives. \nOur speakers addressed the topic of climate disinformation — where we learned how Canada’s largest fossil fuel companies are using ad campaigns and other strategies to mislead the public on emission reduction plans: \n\nThe role of strategic and deceptive communication around fossil fuel emissions and net-zero targets in Canada\nExamples drawn from the oil sands sector’s newest promotional organization\, Pathways Alliance — a coalition of the six largest oils sands producers\nStrategies and techniques used to shape climate conversations\, political processes and public engagement.\n\nOur guest speakers: \n\nDr. Chris Russill — Academic Director\, Re.Climate and Associate Professor\, School of Journalism and Communication\, Carleton University\nDr. Patrick McCurdy — Associate Professor of Communication\, University of Ottawa.\n\n \nWe’re looking forward to seeing you\, \nKaren Sadlier-Brown\, Programming Committee\nClimate Action for Lifelong Learners
